How many galaxies exist in our universe?

In 2021 data from NASA’s New Horizons space probe estimates 200 billion galaxies exist in our universe.

How many suns and planets exist in our Milky Way galaxy?

Our Milky Way galaxy contains between 100 and 400 billion stars with some estimates place the number of stars at 1 trillion. It's estimated that our Milky Way galaxy has between 800 billion and 3.2 trillion planets, with some estimates placing the number of planets as high as 8 trillion.

What is the human population on planet earth?

It’s estimated that 7.8 billion humans exist on planet earth. It took over 2 million years for the world's population to reach 1 billion, and only 200 years more to reach 7 billion. Its estimated that the world's population will grow to 16 billion by the year 2100.

Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. To pursue sustainability is to create and maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations.

Why focus on sustainability?

Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The concept of sustainability is composed of three pillars: environmental, social and economic, also known informally as planet, people and profits.
